Championship Mindset Pt. 6
Development Minded
How committed are you to your personal leadership development?
No one will care about your development more than you do or should!
Leadership isn’t about staying where you are—it’s about constantly evolving. A development-minded leader embraces growth as both a mindset and a daily discipline. But let’s be clear: real growth isn’t comfortable, and it’s certainly not automatic. It requires intentionality, vulnerability, and a drive for improvement.
The moment you believe you’ve arrived, your leadership starts to stagnate. Development-minded leaders don’t settle for “good enough.” They push boundaries, challenge the status quo, and are relentless in seeking opportunities to stretch themselves. The key is to never lose the tension between where you are now and where you can be. This tension is a powerful motivator if you harness it right.
But personal growth also demands self-awareness. How well do you truly know your strengths and, more importantly, your blind spots? Leadership requires not just building on what you do well but having the courage to confront areas where you fall short. Great leaders are unafraid of feedback. They invite it, learn from it, and use it as a launching pad for development. It takes humility, but without that humility, you can't grow.
A development-minded leader understands that personal growth isn’t just for their benefit—it impacts the organization. As you grow, others will grow too. If you’re committed to lifelong learning, that passion for growth will ripple through every aspect of your leadership.
Don’t settle for being the leader you were yesterday. The path to greater influence and impact lies in your willingness to take steps to grow weekly.
Take 10 minutes and write down the areas you want to take steps in. When you have those areas, write down 3 action steps for each one and then share those with someone who can keep you accountable to them.
